Commit to the Lord whatever you do

Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and he will establish your plans.
Proverbs 16:3

Happy New Year! We hope and pray your New Year is starting out on a good note.  This is a great time to dedicate more time to God, Family, and friends.  Many times we don’t realize how important these relationships are until we feel it’s too late to mend them or build them.

Family Life

January was a very sad time for the Coker’s and the Mugulusi’s.  We are preparing to leave Uganda and our co-worker Simon was living with us on our compound.  In fact, he and his wife with their three daughters have lived with us for two and a half years of the three years we will have spent in Uganda.

On January 8th and 9th we helped the Mugulusi’s move to another location a bit of a distance from us.   The compound is very quiet right now.  We miss the sounds of the children joyfully playing, and yes, even the sound of them occasionally fighting which usually ended with one or two of them crying. Lol!  Simon and Doreen were so easy to reach out to when we could open a curtain and call their names.  It was comforting to just know they were there when we needed them.  We still see Simon often because we work with him, but not the children. L

The time has also come for us to prepare for our departure in another way.  We are packing and selling all of our belongings.  This is more difficult than you might think.  We need to sell all of our belongings, yet use what we have while we are here.  Imagine selling your toilet bowl brush and plunger, but then explain to the buyer, they have to wait until the end of April to take it because we are still using it. Lol  God has been helping us along the way (as He always does) and there should be no problems selling what we have.

We want to thank you for your generosity!  A friend from home has funded the building of a medium size chicken house.  This house will be used to raise chickens from approximately 1 pound in weight.  They will be kept until they reach approximately 3 to 4 pounds in weight to resell them at a profit.  We will also look into selling eggs.  We will stick with which ever is most profitable.  The profits will go towards buying more chickens, food and the caretaker.  The rest will be given to St. Paul’S Learning Centre for Orphan Scholarships.  We started with 120 chickens and will increase in number each 3 months when they are sold. Sustainability!

The Women have been working hard to complete the
400 pad packets for distribution to area schools.
They are excited for the Launch coming soon!

We have completed the Pastoral Training!!  The training ended the second week of December.  The last two classes were Pastoral Leadership and Church Planting.  The men worked so hard all year and were very dedicated in attendance and in their working to complete the class and the field assignments.  We started with 7 and ended with 5.  We are so proud of them for what they have accomplished and for their willingness to serve God in growing the kingdom of Heaven.

The training was independent of the Church of Uganda, but we worked in partnership with the leadership of the Church of Uganda.  Bruce worked with Reverend George Mpande from the Busoga University through out the year to let him know what he was teaching and how the training was going.  It was very important to the men to have George sign their Certificate.  George attended the ceremony and celebrated with them as they received their certificates.
These men now know how important it is for them to share their training with others.  Not all trainees will become pastors, but all who are trained will learn the responsibility of making disciples and multiplying leaders and churches.

Serving Our KING together with you!
